Rare cacti are not watered by the calendar. They are watered by light, airflow, root volume and how quickly the pot dries.
The refined rule: less frequency, more accuracy
In a collection, the expensive mistake is rarely missing one watering. It is watering again while the roots still have no air. A cactus can be firm and active in a dry mix; it struggles in a cold, wet pot.
Water thoroughly only when the substrate is dry to the base. Let water pass through the drainage holes, then allow the mix to dry again. That pause is cultivation, not neglect.
Summer, winter and real windows
A bright window in Barcelona is not the same environment as a shaded room or a hot southern patio. More light, warmth and air movement mean faster use of water. Lower light and cooler nights mean a slower plant.
During winter rest, watering should be minimal or widely spaced. If the body is firm, do not add water because of anxiety. If there is gentle wrinkling and the pot is dry, water lightly on a mild part of the day.

Healthy roots are not visible every day, but they show themselves through a firm plant, a stable growing point and a clean smell in the pot. If the base softens, the first answer is not more water; it is checking moisture, air and roots.
