Placement and acclimation
Light for collector cacti
Light is energy, shape and health. But a freshly shipped, shaded or indoor-grown plant should not move into hard sun at once.

What bright filtered light means
A very bright window, a lightly shaded patio or a soft shade cloth can provide enough light without punishing the skin. The target is compact growth, stable color and a firm body.
Indoors, south, east or west exposures usually work better than rooms far from the window. If natural light is weak, a grow light can add hours with stable distance and routine.
How to acclimate to sun
Move in stages: bright shade first, then gentle morning or late sun, then more hours if the plant responds well. Hard sun from late morning to mid-afternoon can mark tissue quickly.
A burn will not disappear. It is better to spend a week acclimating than to lose the clean skin of a rare specimen.
Signals to adjust
Not enough light: long pale growth, dull color, strong leaning toward the window. Sudden excess: dry pale or yellow patches on the exposed side.
Rotate gently and avoid changing everything at once. Light, water and substrate should move with method.
Go deeper by topic
Care is easier when split into concrete decisions: where to place, when to water, what to plant in and how to read problems.
